Music inspired by Wartime

Classic FM published a post last month exploring some of the most well known classical music inspired by wartime. The post featured twelve different pieces of music and a short commentary on each which are all fascinating to read. The whole article can be found on the Classic FM website.

Chopin for Wartime

Among the pieces that Classic FM have compiled is a piece of Chopin piano music. The piece of piano music in question is Chopin’s ‘Military Polonaise’. This fast, upbeat, piano piece is unlike other music inspired by wartime and most notably, it is in a major key.

The Classic FM article tells us, interestingly, that;

“During Poland’s invasion, Polksie Radio played the rhythmic Polonaise every day as a nationalistic protest, in an attempt to bring the Polish people together.” – Classic FM

We can certainly understand how this music would have a positive effect on listeners and how it would boost the morale of the Polish people. If ever you are feeling down then give this wonderful piece of music a listen and it is sure to bring you a little joy.
