Yuexuan Song Plays the Classics

On Wednesday a young Chinese pianist by the name of Yuexuan Song will be playing pieces of music by some of the most esteemed composers known to the classical music world. Her concert will be in Piccadilly, London in St James’s Church (W1J 9LL) and no tickets are required to enter. The start time is 1:10pm so if you are planning on attending, make sure you leave enough time to get yourself a good seat! More information can be found on the Saint James’s website.

The Concert Programme

Yuexuan Song will be playing a programme of four pieces of fantastic piano music. The afternoon will begin with a little bit of Bach. ‘Sheep may safely graze, from Cantata N0 208’ is a favourite of many pianists although it is rarely heard in concert. Following this, Yuexuan Song will go on to play Beethoven’s ’15 Variations and a Fugue on an original theme in E flat, ‘Erotica variations’’. Next will come a piece by the king of piano music himself’ Chopin. Chopin is known for his fiendish and technically challenging piano studies and Song will play ‘Nocturne No 7 in C sharp minor’. To end the concert, some Liszt will be played in the form of ‘Rhapsodie espagnole’.
