Concert in Brighton with Yoko Ono this Saturday
Perhaps the concert of the week, Yoko Ono will be performing on the piano alongside Mairéad Hickey on violin this coming Saturday at 7:00pm at St Margaret’s Church in Ditchling. Yoko Ono is a much sought after pianist who tutors at the Royal College of Music Junior Department on Saturdays – not to be confused with the late John Lennon’s wife!
Mairéad Hickey and Yoko Ono
Mairéad Hickey is generally considered to be one of the greatest violinists to have come out of Ireland recently. She has won many prizes and most notably won prizes in the final of the Irish Young Musician of the Year competition in the Year 2010-2012. Playing alongside Yoko Ono on the piano, this concert should be breathtakingly beautiful.
The concert will consist of two pieces of music. The first of these will be Schubert’s Sonatina No 3 in G minor for violin and piano. The second and final piece of music to be performed will be Poulenc’s Sonata for violin and piano.
This concert is a chance to see two world class musicians perform and is not to be passed up. The couple will be performing following a talk by Counterpoints Arts. Tickets are priced at £25 and tickets and more information about the concert and soloists is available from the official event website.
